Melissa Hughes joined the BID team as Chief Executive Officer in June 2020, after spending most of her career in strategic Marketing, HR and Operations roles within the property industry. She also has experience in Retail, Hospitality and Education. BID is a non-profit organisation behind the Visit Newbury Brand. The BID delivers a fantastic range of projects proposed by, voted for, and funded by local businesses as part of the BID’s Second Term Business Plan. These projects focus on four key areas, and they deliver them to help work towards two overarching objectives: Increasing visitor footfall and engagement with town centre businesses through positioning and promotion of the Visit Newbury brand and Increasing business investment in Newbury and supporting existing and new businesses to thrive in the town. BID also manages many seasonal events throughout Newbury, including the Christmas Lights switch on, the Victorian Christmas markets, monthly markets such as The Artisan and Vegan markets and a whole lot more! We have a look at what’s happening in Newbury now and up to Christmas and their plans far beyond to put Newbury on the map and make it a good place to live, shop, visit and work in.
