Ed is the Community Wildlife Officer (Oxon & West Berks) at Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT)

Ed  has had a lifelong passion for and interest in the natural world and, in particular, a love of the wildlife and landscapes of the UK.

“It is our “living neighbours”, those birds, animals, plants & trees that he sees in his garden or on a walk through his local patch that, for him, contribute most to the magical uplift of spirits that arises from our connection with nature”

THEIR WILDER VISION

They have a bold vision of a wilder Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, with more nature everywhere – for everyone – in towns and rural areas.

We all need nature – for clean water, food and fresh air – but nature needs us too.

Their mission is to bring about nature’s recovery by inspiring and empowering local people and partners to help bring nature back.

To put nature into recovery, they need 30% of all land in their region properly managed for wildlife by 2030.

And that’s good for our climate too.

By working together, we can create bigger, wilder, more connected landscapes across our three counties, so nature and people can thrive.

HOW THEY WORK

Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts working for wildlife across the UK.

Using a science-led approach, they protect and restore natural habitats, which are home to some of our most precious wildlife.

They work to promote natural solutions to the climate crisis – such as restoring floodplain meadows to tackle flooding and capture carbon.

Thanks to their generous supporters, their team of 150 staff look after 86 nature reserves and four education centres, run hundreds of inspiring events, and campaign to make nature’s recovery a reality.

They are lucky to have an army of more than 1,700 fantastic volunteers to help them do this.

They also work alongside and in partnership with local landowners, councils, organisations and communities, to encourage them to take action that benefits nature too.
