Wonderful Watercolours
This workshop is suitable for adults.
Choice of times:
Tuesdays :21 July, 25 Aug and 22 Sep 2026 – 1:30 to 3:30pm
or
Wednesdays 29July, 19 Aug and 16 Sep 2026 – 10am to 12pm
£70 for 3 sessions – either Tues or Wed (it is the same content, just a different time)
Explore the simple delights of painting in watercolour in these fun, friendly, no-pressure classes for beginners – and anyone wanting a bit of ‘me-time’!
Learn how to mix colours, use different brushes and tools, and create quick and easy studies that can be used for cards, wall art or to keep in your sketch book.
This is a fun and playful approach where you will be able to try out all sorts of techniques and materials, and produce quirky illustrative images along the way – all under the cheerful guidance of Karen Carter.
Materials will be supplied, so just grab a cuppa, roll up your sleeves and enjoy a couple of hours each week playing with paint!
No experience needed – lots of demos and individual help – everyone welcome.

These sessions receive funding in various ways so they can pay the artists delivering the sessions fairly.
There is always an exhibition to see at City Arts, and they are free to visit!Â
They offer affordable exhibition space to artists and collaborate with local schools and projects to showcase creativity.
There are opportunities for artists to submit work for their Open Exhibitions each on a particular theme.

Their flagship Chalkfest event takes place every August – they take over the Market Square in Newbury and enjoy brightening up the pavement!
A competition of the chalk drawings is judged by a local artist with prizes for different age groups.
