Weight Loss Injections

Originally developed for people with Type 2 diabetes, drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro are now often used for weight loss.

While they can be helpful for some, there are growing concerns about safety.

The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is currently investigating reports of serious side effects, including pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), gastrointestinal problems such as stomach paralysis, and cardiovascular issues in those with existing heart conditions.

Other considerations:

• Possible fertility increase and interference with oral contraceptives – with reports of “Ozempic babies”

• Unpleasant digestive side effects (including the infamous “rotten egg burps”)

• Doesn’t encourage long-term healthy eating habits – weight regain is common once stopped

While these medications can be life-changing for those who’ve exhausted all other options, they are not a quick fix and come with real risks.

A sustainable, nourishing approach to weight and health is still the safest, most effective path in the long run
