The Volunteer Centre West Berkshire is a charitable incorporated organisation, formed in 1974.
The organisation’s overriding ethos is to match local people to local need.
They provide information, advice and guidance and personally match people to one of the more 350 volunteering opportunities in West Berkshire.
They also provide help and information to charitable organisations in West Berkshire, whether helping start a new charity or providing assistance with fundraising, training and governance.
As well as run local schemes providing help for socially isolated and the elderly.
In a recent place survey, the unitary authority area of West Berkshire has been recognised as the highest volunteering unitary authority in the UK. By working in partnership with West Berkshire Council and the Local Strategic Partnership, Volunteer Centre West Berkshire wishes to build on its successful track record by further promoting volunteering and community participation across the district.
Flexiteering
The Volunteer Centre understands that people have many demands on their time and feel unsure about making a regular commitment to volunteering, as well as the emotional investment it may require.
Flexiteering provides the perfect solution for people with skills to share, but limited time. Flexiteers will experience all the rewards of volunteering, knowing that they are adding value to the West Berkshire community.
Once registered as a flexiteer, the Volunteer Centre will keep you informed when local charities, voluntary and community groups tell us they have a requirement for the help of a volunteer for a short term, or one off project or activity.
As a flexiteer, you will have the freedom to choose which activities you would like to get involved with – suiting your interests, skills and availability.
