After 26 years, The Vineyard is changing hands…..
The Vineyard in Berkshire will be taken over by Apex Hotels, aft 26 years under Sir Peter Michael and his family.
As the Michael family prepares for new adventures, they’ve chosen to pass the torch to fresh owners at The Vineyard, allowing them to focus on the Post, a lovely barn venue for weddings and events now open at their sister property, Donnington Valley hotel.
The journey of Apex Hotels has been all about welcoming enthusiasts of culture and wanderlust since 1996, when they opened their first hotel in Edinburgh’s vibrant Grassmarket.
Fast forward over two decades, and they now proudly operate eight city centre hotels across the UK, along with two serene rural retreats in Scotland.
They like to think of their hotels as a big, happy family—just like you, their guests—each one boasting its own unique personality, style, and charm.
No matter which Apex Hotel you decide to stay at, you can count on enjoying fantastic dining, comfortable rooms, and perhaps everything else your heart desires!

From the beginning, The Vineyard has been a celebration of award-winning food, wine and hospitality.
The Vineyard’s immaculate service in opulent surroundings has continued throughout and was most recently recognised with the award of the newly created One Key by the Michelin Guide for a very special stay.
Fear not – the hotel will remain dedicated to fine food, art and of course, wine, with a first class team at the helm.
Whilst this is a significant moment for us, our Managing Director Andrew and his team, we look forward to seeing our hotel continue it’s journey, as we continue ours.
As we enter a new chapter, our focus will turn to our Donnington Valley Estate; hotel, spa and golf course and The Post, The Kingfisher Bedford, The Vineyard Cellars, Deanwood Park and our most recent venture, The Bunker.
To our loyal guests and amazing team, thank you for your support over the years.
We will forever cherish the memories made at The Vineyard and are excited about what the future holds.
