The Swan on the River Opens!
The Swan on the River Opens it doors after three years of the village being without a pub!
The Swan on the River is set to open its doors on the 1st of October 2026, and we couldn’t be more excited!
There are still a few areas where there is still work in progress regarding the renovations, but they’re eager to have everything ready for you all soon.
Last week, the villagers were warmly invited for drinks and canapés, and they were able to make bookings over the weekend before the grand opening.
Of course, we had to pop by and check it out!
Peter, the Manager, greeted us with a smile and a big welcome and was more than happy to ensure that wheelchair access was easy to navigate.
As we took our seats, it was heartwarming to see so many familiar faces and be able to catch up with other villagers.
We were presented with the menu, and our first thoughts were how reasonable the prices seemed, along with an incredible selection for Sunday lunch – honestly, we could have chosen just about anything!
They were excellent at asking about allergies, which was very reassuring.
After enjoying some delicious homemade bread to start, Paul went with the roast beef Sunday lunch, while I opted for the Homemade Chicken, Mushroom, and Leek Pie.
The Roast Beef Sunday lunch was beautifully presented, perfectly portioned, and absolutely delicious!
As for my pie, it was stunning – from the very first bite, I felt wowed!
I had never tasted such a flavourful pie before, and I basically I just couldn’t get enough, loving every mouthful and feeling rather full!
Paul then chose the Apple Crumble, which was bursting with delicious flavors, and I simply had to try the pistachio ice cream, which did not disappoint, living up to Peter’s recommendation!
The staff were friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with anything we needed.
Overall, the fact that we’ve already booked to return twice next month (so far!) and take friends speaks volumes!
