The Chocolate Experience
Hosted by Amy Levin
The Chocolate Experience and what you’ll learn…
The Chocolate Journey
In class, you’ll learn all about where chocolate comes from, how it’s processed commercially and then see how it’s made in small batches by artisan chocolatiers the world over using a stone grinder.
The chocolate they make and use in class is all natural, plant based and free from refined sugars.
Tempering
Tempering chocolate is what gives it the shine and snap we all know and love. It also makes it more shelf stable – meaning it won’t melt in your hand.
They’ll show you how to easily temper chocolate, so you can do it at home, if you’d like.
Chocolate Bars
They’ll make chocolate bars using a professional chocolate mould, just like the pros do it.
The group gets to choose the flavour and design of the bars and, once set, they get packed up into bags for you to take away with you.
PralinesÂ
Pralines are very easy to make and only require 2 main ingredients!
They’ll set them into silicone moulds in the class, add additional flavours and textures and then dip them into chocolate at the end.
These are easy to make at home, if you should want to, and fun to customise with decorations at the end.
TrufflesÂ
These truffles are so easy to make and only have 4 main ingredients.
They can be adapted to suit any taste by switching up the shade of chocolate, nut butter and sweetener being used.
Of course, they can add freeze dried fruits, spices and essentials oils to make these pop with originality.
During the making of these in class, students will ‘taste as you go’ in the process of developing the flavour.
Flavour development is key to taking a chocolate (or any meal) from pretty good to excellent!
Learn A New CraftÂ
Unlike some crafts, chocolate making can be done at home using a few easy to find tools and some good quality chocolate.
In fact, as you’ll see in this class, you can even make your own artisan chocolate at home.
Whether that interests you or not, you can take your new found skills and embark on a creative journey.
Take What You MakeÂ
You’ll take home a box of what we make in the class, which typically ends up being 10-15 chocolates and a chocolate bar.
All the chocolates they make in class will keep for several weeks…. if they last that long!
All chocolates are dairy, wheat, gluten and refined sugar free.
