St. Andrew’s Church in Chaddleworth was built in the 12th century. The brick includes remnants of an earlier church from the late Saxon or early Norman period. The brass eagle lectern was donated by the Dean and Chapter. It was originally created in 1862 for Westminster Abbey, potentially designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The lectern was situated in the Abbey near the choir screen monument to Sir Christopher Wren and was used for special Sunday services until the 1950s. The church displays a vast collection of monuments to the Nelsons of Chaddleworth House, the Tippings and Wroughtons of Woolley Park, and the Blandys of Oakash.
