Reading Fan set for Dublin Marathon

A popular Reading FC fan and charity fundraiser is set to run a marathon for the first time at the weekend, to raise funds for the Children’s Health Foundation.

Johnny Hunt’s fundraising goal for Sunday’s Irish Life Dublin Marathon is £1,200 – and he is currently just £100 short of his target. 

Johnny is a board member for Reading supporters group STAR (Supporters Trust At Reading) and hosts the Talking Royals podcast, which offers support to people with mental health challenges.

He is also a co-host of the Reading FC focused 1871 Podcast – and has been a Reading fan for more than 40 years. He was born in Reading and grew up close to Reading FC’s former ground Elm Park.

Johnny has worked in nursing for many years and currently works as a nurse in Ireland, supporting children with intellectual disabilities.

He is also a fundraiser for mental health charities and has completed 25 charity fundraising walks, but Sunday’s Dublin Marathon will be the first time he has attempted a Marathon.

Johnny’s work as a mental health nurse for children and his charity fundraising was recognised during his recent guest appearance on the Amazing People Podcast, which is hosted by fellow Reading fan Mark Roach – who is also a co-host on the 1871 Podcast.
