Models for Heroes is about embracing scale modelling as a therapeutic and fulfilling activity for the Veteran communities throughout the UK.

Models for Heroes (M4H) proudly stands as the first charity in the UK dedicated to championing model-making hobbies for our former and current Armed Forces and Emergency Service Personnel.

Studies show that crafts can really boost happiness and social connections.

The skills needed to build model kits are a fantastic way to enhance fine motor skills.

Back in March 2017, talented model maker Malcolm Childs jumped in to lend his time, skills, and generous resources to the Rolling Recovery Programme at Tedworth House Recovery Centre.

Malcolm felt deeply that he needed to give back to the heroes who make sacrifices for his own family.

Being an enthusiastic model maker himself, he saw the healing power of this hobby and rallied his friends, family, and fellow modellers from around the globe to join him.

Before long, his garage overflowed with kind donations, and Malcolm started using these models so veterans could appreciate the benefits of this hobby.

Within a year, the name “Models for Heroes” was chosen, and the non-profit blossomed into a Community Interest Company.

Their mission is to support former and current Armed Forces & Emergency Service personnel both in the UK and across overseas territories.

They aim to promote model-making as a therapeutic and meaningful activity that brings joy as well as support.
