Paul Presents- Marsden’s Confectionary with Alex Marsden- Smedley and Pyrography with Margo Payne

Delving into the making of fudge and chocolates, we learn all about Marsden’s Confectionary, before the arts and techniques of Pyrography. It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

Marsden’s Confectionery

Marsden’s Confectionery, winner of 17 awards is highly successful home-based business,  making a range of fudge and chocolates to traditional recipes of the highest quality and excellence.

The award winning signature Vanilla Fudge is made using Alex’s Grandmother’s recipe, a traditional recipe without the use of additives and artificial flavouring’s. Whilst it has a smooth, creamy melt-in-the-mouth consistency, it is also delightfully crumbly and has often been likened to Scottish Tablet. Vogue Magazine described the Vanilla Fudge as “second to none”!

Margo Payne, Pyrography & Christmas Cheer with The Lions Club of Newbury

Pyrography is the art of decorating wood with burn marks using a heated object like a metal pen. The term literally means “writing with fire” and comes from the Greek words “pur” and “graphos”

The Christmas Cheer page will be going live this weekend and run throughout until Christmas Eve

The welfare fund is to support vulnerable families in Newbury and Thatcham. We get referrals from social services, Health visitors and other support agencies it is usually for sums under £500 to buy white goods or carpeting etc-because of the Fireworks we have not been able to increase our funding so are looking at getting some money in by holding a craft and gift stall in Newbury Market on Saturday 5th December. We will also be happy to sell decorations online directly through the Lion’s Facebook page and a our one month only Lions Christmas Cheer Facebook page which will also be holding a colouring competition and tell of the routes our Santa sleigh will be taking (3 evenings in Thatcham and 3 in Newbury). The Christmas Cheer page will be going live this weekend and run throughout until Christmas Eve.
