Mr. Micheal Bond was born at 2 Edinburgh Terrace, West Mills, Newbury in January 1926.

The family moved to Reading when he was just six weeks old, as his dad, Norrie, who attended Newbury Grammar School, got a promotion in the Post Office.

His mother, Mary (née Offer), worked at Camp Hopson’s before tying the knot.

Bond, who sadly passed away at the age of 91, was a talented BBC television cameraman.

On Christmas Eve in 1956, he popped out to Oxford Street, London, to grab a little gift for his first wife, Brenda.

Out of kindness, he bought a lonely bear glove-puppet left behind on a shelf in Selfridges.

The rest is history.
