Newbury Pancake Race
Join them for an egg-static lunchtime event as the Newbury Pancake Race returns to Market Place on Shrove Tuesday.
BID are proud to be working alongside Berkshire’s Refugee Support Group to support the return of this much-loved community event to Newbury town centre.
Teams will battle it out to be crowned champions, and expect fancy dress, some (hopefully) impressive flipping, and lots of fun!
It’s free to head out and show your support, but maybe you want to get involved?
Registrations for teams are now open, so click here to enter your team and compete against other local businesses and community groups, cheered on by a lively crowd of spectators!
Will your team become the Flippin’ Champions?
What’s involved?
Each team is made up of four people.
Entry fee: £150 per team.
Race 12:30-1:30, prize giving straight afterwards!

Fancy dress
Whether you dress as your historical hero, movie character, a quirky pun, or something completely from another galaxy, they want to see it!
There will be prizes for Best Fancy Dress and Top Fundraiser, so go all out!
What happens on the day?
Teams check-in from 11:30am, then gather for a team photo before the race begins.
The relay race kicks off at 12:30pm.
Pancakes must be flipped three times as you race – poor flipping may result in disqualification!
Winner stays on.
Prize giving will follow immediately after the final race.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, along with fancy dress and fundraising achievements.
Fundraising
They’d like to encourage teams to raise funds for Refugee Support Group, to thank them for all the work they have put in to organise the event.
The charity provides vital services for refugees in Newbury and across Berkshire.
Many businesses match fundraising efforts, so check if yours does!
After signing up, you’ll have access to your team fundraising page where you can encourage others to support your efforts!
There are also sponsorship opportunities available.
