What to expect: Enjoy browsing the exhibition from 6.30pm – then wander into the café where the talk will take place from 7pm.
 
The masterclass will begin with an introduction to Jin’s practice, focusing on a recently completed project and the development of ideas from initial concept to finished works.
 
This will then be followed by a fascinating live demonstration of the artist’s wheel-throwing process, offering insight into both the conceptual and technical aspects of the work.

Who is the speaker: Jin Eui Kim is an internationally renowned ceramic artist.
 
Originally from South Korea, he now lives with his family in Cardiff, UK.
 
Whilst at Cardiff School of Art & Design Jin Eui studied the illusory effects of the application of tonal bands to three-dimensional surfaces.
 
He graduated with an MA and a PhD in Ceramics.
 
He was then accepted into Graduate Residence at Fireworks Clay Studios, Cardiff and remains a full-time member.
 
He is also a member of Contemporary Applied Art (CAA) and the Craft Potters Association (CPA). Jin Eui’s work has been seen across the world, in exhibitions, fairs and in craft shops.
 
He has recently been announced as the winner for Homes & Gardens Designer Awards with the China & Glass Category and has work in the permanent collections of Manchester Art Gallery and Amgueddfa Cymru (National Museum Wales). 
 
Times: 6.30pm – 8pm
 
Includes entry to the exhibition from 6.30pm and a drink on arrival (wine or orange juice). The talk takes place from 7pm – 8pm.
The base 

The Base opened on Friday 8 February 2019 in partnership with Greenham Trust and the Corn Exchange.

It became a registered charity in 2022 (charity no. 1199188) and is dedicated to improving access to the arts whilst bringing quality visual art to the local area.

Situated in a purpose-built arts and craft building, The Base’s £1.7M venue was designed by Sutton Griffin Architects of Newbury.

The space comprises of a 110sqm gallery, artists’ studios and a workshop for participatory classes.

There is also a café facility managed by Honesty Café group.

Striving to be a flagship visual arts venue in West Berkshire, The Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year 54 exhibition launched the inaugural gallery programme.

Displaying some of the best wildlife photography from across the globe, the exhibition comprised of 100 photograph across 7 categories and is renowned for attracting millions of visitors around the world every year. 

The Base is also home to 8 visual artists and craft makers as well as Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hampshire, who present their annual INSIGHT exhibition at The Base every May.

Honesty Cafe is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 5pm and 9.30am – 4pm on Sundays.
