Spend a fun and creative day with basket maker, Judith Needham, weaving a life-size sculpture of a boxing hare to enhance your garden or perhaps to make a really special gift. 

 
Mainly using a random weave, there are also some interesting techniques to learn to the details of legs, ears and eyes – all borrowed from traditional basket making.
 
What to expect:
 
To create the main body sculpture of a life-size hare, Judith will teach you a random willow weave.
 
You will also learn other interesting weaving techniques to create the details of legs, ears and eyes – all borrowed from traditional basket making.
 
This workshop is suitable for those who have worked with willow before.
 
It’s a slightly longer day than the chicken sculpture class because there is more to do, but it’s still lots of fun! 
 
What to wear/take:
 
All materials will be provided, including a metal framework to weave onto).
 
You are welcome to come with your own ideas – If you have a different animal in mind, of a similar size contact Judith first to discuss

Who is your tutor:
 
Judith Needham is a basket maker and willow weaver based in Farnham, Surrey – England’s Craft Town.
 
Judith specialises in woven willow playhouses but  also makes baskets and teach basket making and willow sculpture.
 
Judith enjoys passing on her skills through teaching workshops to adults and children at various venues across Surrey and Hampshire.
 
All materials will be provided (including a metal framework to weave onto).
 
Time: 10am – 5pm
