Learn to Felt and Make a Bowl
Learn to Felt
Learn to Felt
Discover the basics of wet felting with this Learn to Felt workshop with Clare Scott Dryden.

Learn how to transform merino wool fibres and create your own beautiful and functional felt bowl to take home.

What to expect:
Learn the scientific art of felting, in which wool fibres are transformed into a solid fabric using water, soap, and gentle agitation.

As the fibres are rubbed and worked together, they bind naturally to form a strong, durable felt.

Suitable for beginners and those with some creative experience.

What to bring / wear:
All creative materials are included.

Please bring an apron, an old towel and bowl if you have one to hand.

Benefits:
Wet felting is a very therapeutic calming process and deeply grounding – often considered as very mindful, as it is sensory and repetitive!

However it also allows for great artistic expression combining fibres and textiles to create tactic objects and pictures.

Who is your tutor:
Clare is a mixed media artist working with acrylics and watercolours, often combining paint with her love of textiles.

Her creative surfaces range from richly textured Merino wool, felted backdrops – into which additional felts and papers are fused – to more traditional canvas compositions layered with paint.

Her inspiration is drawn from everyday life: observations of people and places, the colours and forms discovered through travel, and walks with her dog.

Landscapes, rivers, shifting contours and, in particular, trees, feature strongly within her work, reflecting a deep connection to the natural world and the quiet patterns found within it.
