 Hi. I’m Julie.

I am a fully qualified Nutritional Therapist who has previously enjoyed a thirty-year career as a professional classical singer, vocal coach and teacher, as well as being Mum to three children.

Indeed, I spent most of my singing career jumping on and off planes around the world, eating the wrong foods too late at night, and keeping going by guzzling caffeine and sugar. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in my thirties, and this in turn impacted my voice. I was greatly helped by wonderful medical professionals, however many of my symptoms remained.

I felt alone, anxious, helpless and out of control. I didn’t know who to turn to.

Taking control of my nutrition and lifestyle was my weapon against these symptoms, and I felt empowered by being in control of my food choices.

The desire to help others steered me towards studying for a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy at The Institute of Optimum Nutrition. Four years of hard work later, I am a fully qualified Nutritional Therapist DipION; a member of The British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (mBANT) and regulated by The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC reg). Since graduation, I’m fully committed to undertake regular training in order to update my knowledge, further my skills and keep up to date with the latest scientific research.

I use my clinical knowledge to restore your optimal health.

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Our bodies are amazing. Our digestion is linked to our ability to respond to stress. Hormones can play a key role in energy production. Our moods can be impacted by what’s happening in our gut. These complex partnerships can be knocked off balance due to our busy lives, food and lifestyle choices. Symptoms of these imbalances can have a hugely negative impact on our day-to-day life. Without the right support, you can feel unsure, bloated, alone, out of control and unsure of what to do next, always searching for a miracle solution.

Nutritional Therapists use a wide variety of tools to assess clients, identify these potential imbalances and understand how they might be contributing to their symptoms.

Clients are given support to make positive nutrition and lifestyle changes using real food. Sometimes supplements and further functional testing are recommended.

Nutritional Therapists frequently work alongside medical professionals and always refer clients with ‘red flag’ symptoms to their GP.

Paul Presents | The Sixteen with Julie Cooper

Julie is also a member of The Sixteen. The Sixteen is one of the world’s most renowned choral ensembles. Seen at the Newbury Spring Festival, Their vision is to provide an opportunity for everyone, everywhere, to experience top-quality choral music.

You can listen to Julie chatting to Paul about The  Sixteen on the Paul presents Page.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2019, The Sixteen arose from its Founder and Conductor Harry Christophers’ formative experience as cathedral chorister and choral scholar. His enterprise, launched in 1979, built on the best of the British choral tradition while setting new standards of virtuosity and musicianship. The Sixteen’s professional female and male voices create a distinctive sound of great warmth and clarity. Although refined over four decades, that sound has remained remarkably consistent, always responsive to the emotional content of words and music, ever alert to subtle nuances of colour and shading.
