Join Newbury Choral Society and their exciting new Music Director Tom Edney in a wonderful day learning and performing John Rutter’s Magnificat at Newbury Methodist Church.

Music will be provided and NCS members will provide experience.

The day will run from 10am – 4pm with a performance at 4:30pm

The Magnificat by John Rutter is a musical setting of the biblical canticle Magnificat, completed in 1990.

The extended composition in seven movements is based on the Latin text, interspersed with “Of a Rose, a lovely Rose“, an anonymous English poem on Marian themes, the beginning of the Sanctus and a prayer to Mary.

The music includes elements of Latin American music.

They will provide more detailed information about the logistics of the day.

The church is located in the centre of Newbury with easy access to car parks, cafes and restaurants.
