Janas Recycling Journey Through West Berkshire
‘Welcome to the new edition of thisGuest Blog. I am a full-time working mum of 2 boys and a published novelist of ‘The Ninth Cross’ by my pen name J. Karst. I get involved in trying that little bit I can in saving the environment for the future generations.’
Its December and soon stressed-out parents can relax once Christmas is over. Until then, they will be rushing about like mad lunatics so approach them with caution. That’s just a little warning for I know this very well myself – yet another present delivery has been lost and my patience is very thin.
At the same time, I am trying to manage the recycling volumes. Some changes had happened and pringle tubes can now be recycled in supermarkets drop off points as well as any other flexible packaging like crisp packets, pet food pouches and many more. However, not all supermarkets joined this venture so keep an eye out.
A lot has changed regarding the recycling as supermarkets take more items to recycle than they previously did. That said the volumes haven’t really gone down too much and my garage filled up again. Maybe soon I won’t have to be doing this as manufacturers take a note and swap for more sustainable packaging.
However, the cynic inside me laughs at my idealism. I am more likely see the pigs fly and my kids to tidy their bedrooms without nagging before the corporation change their polluting ways. To be honest my cynic side is correct because I am likely to see pigs fly and my dog holding a conversation with me about the weather, before my kids spontaneously tidy their bedrooms.
I am sure that there are many other parents who feel that they need to check their little darlings’ temperature when their darlings clean up after themselves. Its also worth noting that some parents must steady themselves when their teenage progeny answers with a whole sentence rather than a random grunt…
