Jana's Recycling Journey Through West Berkshire

‘Welcome to the new edition of my Guest Blog. I am a full-time working mum of 2 boys and a published novelist of ‘The Ninth Cross’ by my pen name J. Karst. I get involved in trying that little bit I can in saving the environment for the future generations.’

The recycling has been keeping me busy, but there has been a drop in volume. Maybe its because people made the right choices or that there are more options for people to recycle. Tesco has a drop off point for soft plastics as well as any make up and filter cartridges.

At least things are moving the right direction and there are more options available. I hope that soon it won’t be needed as the manufactures will change their packaging to a sustainable option.

With little bit of time to myself, I have been inviting myself to see their beautiful baby. He is so adorable! I gone all mushy yesterday at my hairdresser boasting about the birth and how beautiful he is. Being a mother herself, we reminisced about what it was like when our kids were babies.

We had a good giggle remembering how easy it was to open the door for the postman with a breast exposed because you just finished feeding the baby. The funniest moment my hairdresser experienced was when her daughter was 4 years old and absolutely obsessed with the Frozen movie.

It wasn’t strange for her when she attended her customers to hear ‘let it go’ blasting from the speakers in the next room. That one day the speakers were playing that song repeatedly. She wondered how her husband managed to listen to that for a whole hour.

Eventually once the customer had the hair highlights done and left, she went to check up on her husband. Surely, he would be rocking side to side by now ripping his hair out singing ‘let it go’. Instead she was met up with a strange sight.

The whole lounge was covered in flour, her sleeping husband had a layer of flower dust covering him head to toe. Her daughter cradled a half-filled flour bag and threw a handful in the air at each beat of ‘Let it go’. There was an empty bag of flour on their coffee table, white dust was floating everywhere.

Her yelp woke up her husband who rubbed his eyes to empty them off flour ‘What happened?’

‘Let it go, that’s what happened!’ She shouted at her husband as she grabbed the half-filled bag from her daughter’s arms. To her surprise the bag unfolded itself at the bottom and emptied all over the floor…
