Jana's Recycling Journey through West Berkshire

‘Welcome to the new edition of this Parish Newsletter. I am a full-time working mum of 2 boys and a published novelist of ‘The Ninth Cross’ by my pen name J. Karst. I get involved in trying that little bit I can in saving the environment for the future generations.’

I have been a very bad girl and didn’t submit a blog last week. In my defence, my life was hectic last week. I had a minor surgery which made me feel rotten. It was slightly strange to be offered a scooter from an elderly arthritic lady because she noted my Donald the duck with haemorrhoids walk. How daft was I to think that I was doing a good job in pretending that I was completely fine!

I politely declined, only to be stopped two minutes later by a caring nurse asking if I need a wheelchair. It’s obvious that I am an absolute sissy when it comes to pain.  I admire people that live with pain and just get on with it.  I scream like my finger was amputated when I get a paper cut. Still at least when all pain subsided, I was able to spend the other half of the week pottering around the garden doing little jobs that needed doing for the last 10 years.

I managed to prepare for the boot sale for Cats Protection league in my friend’s mum memory. This Sunday, we will be selling her mums stuff to raise as much as we can for this very valuable charity. We secretly hope that the Cats Protection League will let us to smother their residents in cuddles. This might be dangerous as we would be inclined to walk out with cats in our pockets, but we must be tough.

I don’t have the figure yet, but so far via Facebay and Ebay we have already raised couple hundreds. Once we clear the lot and do a recount, I will feedback the final figure.  Thankfully, the charity was very happy to lend us banners and other paraphernalia, despite of being very busy in these difficult times.

Another good news I have is that my neighbour chose me to be her birthing partner. I know, I can hear you say why Jana, when surely the partner would be a better choice. Well her fella passed out when visiting his mum in a hospital and it took 3 nurses and his sick mum to carry him out of the ward. That’s why she chose me, especially as we are from the same country and in the heat of a moment, she might forget to speak English.

I was doubting her choice only yesterday. When entering Costa, I told her that she is like a huge locomotive, 1st enters her pregnancy belly and only couple minutes later she finally waddles in…
