The award-winning Hungerford Bookshop can be found in their beautiful listed building at the heart of Hungerford historic town.
You won’t experience algorithms there.
What they do offer is knowledge, personal recommendations, the chance to hear from the authors themselves and the joyful serendipity of discovering a title you never expected.
Within their characterful shop you will find a large range of new releases, bestsellers, bookseller favourites, and timeless classics – all hand-picked and presented with care.
Downstairs a treasure-trove of second hand and antiquarian books await.
They also stock a fantastic selection of cards, gift wrap, and other bookish accessories.
They have an active events programme, attracting high profile authors such as Robert Harris, Alexander McCall Smith, Sir Max Hastings, Sebastian Faulks, Gill Hornby, Brian Bilston and Robin Ince.
They use various venues around Hungerford such as the Croft Hall, Town Hall, Hungerford Hub/Library & Herongate Club.
They also work with festivals and schools, and have collaborative relationships with The Retreat hotel at Elcot Park, Newbury Corn Exchange, The Watermill Theatre and Thatcham Festival.
Most of their tickets include a glass of wine and money off the book on the night.
