Home Ed sessions: An immersive day of outdoor learning for their local home-educating community
Discover the basics of what plants need to grow and a few secrets too.
Do you know how a sunflower turns to face the sun?
A day of green and growing discoveries – investigate the parts of a plant’s lifecycle and how they are used by people and animals.
Help out with tasks in the vegetable garden and learn to make your own garden more wildlife friendly, including planting a miniature garden to take home. Â
They will have a variety of other self-led plant and gardening themed activities dotted around the nature reserve and education centre.
Their quiet reading and sensory tray space will be open in the classroom too.
Sign up for a timed led session with one of their learning team when you arrive, they’ll be playing some growing games and planting your own miniature gardens to take home.
Most activities will be outdoors – please come dressed for the weather.
Bring a picnic to enjoy at the picnic benches.
Hot drinks and squash provided.
The day is suitable for children aged 4 to 11 years with an accompanying adult (it’s ok to bring younger siblings along so long as you can still support your older child with the activities).
They run home-educators days on a bi-monthly basis, keep an eye on the website for more dates or ask to join their mailing list.
Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.Â
