Gardening Through The Seasons with Margaret Finch

Gardening through the Seasons with Margaret Finch is a blog with useful tips and hints for gardening lovers.

Christmas is almost here and as a keen Gardener it’s time to bring the garden inside the house to celebrate the festive holiday.

A brilliant walk around your plot to find all those interesting foliage’s to beck the halls with.

Traditional greenery being the glossy Holly, ivy and not forgetting the Mistletoe -but I love the aromatic silvery hue of rosemary which lasts so well in water and will even root doing a bit of indoor propagation at the same time. Following on the silvery route of fabulous eucalyptus foliage another very scented leaf that lends well to indoor displays

Adding a splash of colour and contrast the skimmia with green waxy leaves and ruby red flower buds enhance any flower display and my favourites the cornus dogwood twigs with their brilliance bright red stems so useful in displays even without water and make great twig bundles tied with ribbon or string if you don’t have any cinnamon sticks for decorations, but sadly not a substitute to the mulled wine !

I’m sure your gardens are full of many more super shrubs to use in your festive displays I hope you all have a happy Christmas and are looking forward to brighter times ahead in 2022 -with lots of great gardening !!

All the best
