What to expect:
 
Craft three beautiful soaps using high-quality clear and white glycerin soap bases.
 
In this 2.5 hour festive workshop, you’ll learn the melt-and-pour method, explore layering, embedding, swirling techniques, and leave with 4 custom soaps and a set of brand-new creative skills.
 
They’ll provide everything you need, from rich, warming essential oils to natural botanicals and all soap-making materials.
 
Create beautiful packaging for your soaps and enjoy the festive spirit of this workshop. 
 
Festive Silicone Molds:
 
Shape your soaps into charming Christmas trees and snowflakes.
 
Natural Botanical Embeds:
 
Decorate your creations with lavender buds, calendula petals, cornflower and festive mini-soap embeds.
 
Wintery Essential Oils:
 
Infuse your soaps with the scents of the season, such as pine, sweet orange, clove, and cinnamon.

Who is your tutor:
 
Kat, founder of Fun Laboratory Club is a woman on a mission, having discovered a passion for creativity and connecting individuals and families through hosting melt-and-pour soap making workshops three years ago.
 
With experience and passion for hosting and designing soap making workshops, Kat aims to create engaging, uplifting spaces where people can explore, create, and feel proud of what they make.
 
Realising early on that soap making is more than just a craft; it encourages meaningful participation, boosts self-esteem, and supports positive wellbeing.
 
The instant results bring so much joy and excitement, giving all a real sense of accomplishment and making every session a truly rewarding experience.

The base 

The Base opened on Friday 8 February 2019 in partnership with Greenham Trust and the Corn Exchange.

It became a registered charity in 2022 (charity no. 1199188) and is dedicated to improving access to the arts whilst bringing quality visual art to the local area.

Situated in a purpose-built arts and craft building, The Base’s £1.7M venue was designed by Sutton Griffin Architects of Newbury.

The space comprises of a 110sqm gallery, artists’ studios and a workshop for participatory classes.

There is also a café facility managed by Honesty Café group.

Striving to be a flagship visual arts venue in West Berkshire, The Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year 54 exhibition launched the inaugural gallery programme.

Displaying some of the best wildlife photography from across the globe, the exhibition comprised of 100 photograph across 7 categories and is renowned for attracting millions of visitors around the world every year. 

The Base is also home to 8 visual artists and craft makers as well as Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hampshire, who present their annual INSIGHT exhibition at The Base every May.

Honesty Cafe is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 5pm and 9.30am – 4pm on Sundays.

From a fully accessible building to relaxed visit days, they are dedicated to making their venue and exhibitions accessible for everyone.
