Thameside Firework Fiesta 2022
Join them again for another memorable Fireworks Display at Mapledurham lock in Purley on Thames.
The spectacular display over the River Thames promises to be another fantastic event for all the family.
The event is run by a Sub-Committee of the Purley Primary School Parent Teacher Association (FOPS), supported by members of the local community.
All the event’s organisers are volunteers and they couldn’t do it without them.
Special thanks to Tim Metcalfe, Mapledurham Estate & the Scouts without whom none of this would happen.
All proceeds go to Purley Primary School (charity number 1083816)
Tickets are also on sale at Purley Shop, The Mad Duck Café and from Purley Primary School.
Wide variety of Hot & cold food stalls
Burgers, hot dogs, vegetarian option, sweet treats
Novelty glowsticks on sale
Wands, lightsabres, glow sticks galore!
Fully licenced bar,
Mulled wine, selection of beers & ales, cider and a variety of hot & soft drinks.
Toilets and Disabled Toilets on site
Disabled Parking can also be arranged. Please contact them beforehand.
The venue is the field next to the river at the end of Mapledurham Drive, Purley on Thames, RG8 8BD.
Pedestrian access is via Mapledurham Drive, which is paved all the way to the field.
There are a couple of cattle grids, but they will be covered to accommodate wheelchair access and generally make life easier for everyone.
The field itself may be soft and soggy if there has been too much rain in the days preceding the event so wheelchair users should use their discretion when attending, as should people in stiletto heels.
The easiest option is to arrive on foot, but those of you that are coming from further away might like to cycle or take the bus.
Reading Buses Route 16 comes right into Purley, with stops on New Hill and Colyton Way.
Other services stop on the A329 at the top of New Hill.
Reading Buses are kindly putting on extra No.16 buses for this year’s event so they urge you to make the most of this additional service, leave the car and hop on the bus instead!
They urge you not to arrive by car as dedicated parking will not be available this year!
If you do come by car, please spare a thought for the residents of Purley who still need to be able to go about their business as does the local bus service and emergency vehicles.
Therefore please do not block drives or park on or very near to junctions.
Please park considerately following the signs up around the village and refrain from parking in local residential roads unless they are designated for parking as the buses need to complete their routes around the village.
You might want to check out www.justpark.com to see if there are any driveways you can rent to park on.
Disabled access to the site is via Mapledurham Drive. A limited amount of Blue badge holders that need to drive and park close to the event can be accommodated. Please email us on email@example.com for details.
We’re a small group of local volunteers, so we don’t have a postal address or phone number for public use, but we’d love to hear any questions, comments or suggestions about the event or this website.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
