“We were lucky enough to be invited along to the Community Hub cafe at City Arts recently.

Arriving at the beautiful former Wesleyan chapel the door opens into a cafe area with chairs and tables scattered around.

The barista coffee machine and home made cakes beckoned as we made our way past the current art exhibition.

The cakes are baked by local bakers and they certainly serve great barista coffee and a selection of high quality teas.

There is even Saturday afternoon teas on offer.

Finding a seat, the atmosphere surrounds you of people happily chatting to each other, others walking around looking at the art exhibition and others arriving for the art sessions for wellbeing on a Friday morning.

Looking through to a wide open area to the side of the cafe, willow rods were starting to wave around frantically as the art of weaving began, it was mesmerising to see the shapes emerge from the weavers hard at work.

The Community Hub Cafe is open regularly Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.

We couldn’t resist a quick look at the original cards fro sale with local artists work and after buying one or two (or more…), we were impressed with he quality and the reasonable price!

It really is a hidden gem and one we will most certainly be returning to!

Community, Coffee, Cake and Art is definitely a winning combination”
