At the heart of Cobbs Farm Shop & Kitchen is its farm, which at around 55 acres is compact but perfectly formed. They are taking a new “regenerative” approach to how they farm their land  at Cobbs. Their main goal for the new direction is simple, to not just maintain soil quality over time but improve it, to help them grow the best possible tasting crops!

At our Hungerford farm shop, you will find a fantastic delicatessen, butchery, and florist. We work closely with a large number of local producers to offer customers a whole host of products including luxury dairy ice cream, freshly baked bread, honey, preserves and chutneys, cheese, dairy, flour, eggs, cereals, tea, smoked fish and meats, juices and biscuits. And let's not forget our home-grown award-winning English Sparkling Wine - Alder Ridge

We are delighted to be serving delicious homemade food from our kitchen once again. Our café is the perfect place to enjoy a spot of breakfast or lunch or a great tasting coffee and cake with your family and friends. Sunday roasts are also available! Indoor and outdoor (covered) dining is available to cater for all the seasons and everything on our menu is available to take away.

The core focus on their traditional butchery counter is quality. They look to source their meat from local farms, whose standards of welfare and attention to detail match their own exacting standards.  They take an active interest in the farming techniques being used, as well as ensuring welfare standards are kept high for all stages of the animals life – from grazing on the lush pastures of grass to the Dry Aged conditioning methods they employ to care for the meat once slaughtered.

Sarah Styles is a well-established florist in Berkshire with a wealth of experience in weddings, events, corporate and house commissions. We are developing an approach to farming that is gaining huge momentum across the globe, Regenerative Farming. The main goal is a simple one, to not just maintain soil quality over time but improve it.

This is done in a variety of ways, from minimal tilling (disturbance of the soil) to improving the organic matter within the soil through cover crops and the introduction of livestock. Soil is a huge sequester of carbon and the more we can do to improve the quality, the better chances we have of improving carbon capture in the atmosphere.

We want to work with the seasons available to us here in the UK and focus on highly seasonal crops that we know we can thrive here in our soils and climate.

The journey we are about to embark on has no quick wins and will evolve over many years. Our initial focus this year will be on doing everything we can to greatly improve soil quality, prior to planting our first series of seasonal vegetables this Autumn.

We are aiming to introduce livestock to the farm over the summer to help graze the downland naturally as well as introduce new organic matter to the land.

We want to take this opportunity to engage with all our customers on this exciting new venture and will be providing plenty of opportunities for people to be directly involved in our journey through educational talks to hands-on farming!

We were incredibly sad to have to end the long history of soft fruit at Cobbs. Farming must evolve with the environment we live in and this new direction fits seamlessly with our desire to improve the environment we live in whilst also providing exceptional quality produce, straight from the farm.  he farm is a hive of activity at the moment as prepare our Asparagus beds and order seeds for our famous pumpkins and a new crop, Sunflowers, which will be available to Pick Your Own! If the weather plays ball, we are expecting some very Instagramable piccies coming your way!

Planted in 2011, our 8-acre vineyard can be found at Cobbs Farm, Hungerford. We produce internationally award-winning English Sparkling Wine.

Please visit our website to learn all about the journey we’ve been on to get to this point, the exciting wines we produce, and our plans for the future. English Wine is showing some exceptional promise and we feel very proud to be involved in such a dynamic and fast-growing industry.
