Chinese New Year Market to Return to Thatcham Broadway
Thatcham Town Council has announced the return of the Chinese New Year Market to Thatcham Broadway on Sunday 1 March, from 10am to 2pm, celebrating the Year of the Horse with a programme of food, culture and live performance.
The market will feature a wide selection of Asian cuisine, including Japanese dumplings and bento boxes, rice balls with savoury fillings, Thai dishes, Indonesian specialities, and a range of desserts and sweet treats.
Alongside the food stalls, visitors will find traders offering dried foods and spices, jewellery, handmade accessories, crafts, and home and beauty products.
Many of the businesses taking part are Asian-owned or draw inspiration from East and Southeast Asian traditions.
A traditional Lion Dance will take place outside the Kingsland Centre at 11am and 12.30pm, and family crafts will be available to take part in all day.
Thatcham Broadway will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event to allow safe pedestrian access.
Mayor of Thatcham, Councillor Petra Pemberton, said:
“I am pleased to see the Chinese New Year Market returning to Thatcham. Events such as this bring people together and reflect the diversity of our community.
Thatcham is an excellent place to celebrate that diversity, and I hope people from all over West Berkshire and beyond will come along and take part.”
The event is free to attend and open to all.
