Three-weekly black bin collections
Changes to Bin Collections by West Berkshire Council
Changes to Bin Collections by West Berkshire Council

West Berkshire Council are making important changes from 22 September 2025 to help recycle more and waste less.

From Monday 22 September 2025 black bin collections will take place once every three weeks.

They know that this change may feel more challenging for some households, so they’re here to help.

On their website you can find information about why they are making the change; support they can provide and practical advice on managing your waste.

More information, including collection calendars will be sent directly to you between 25 August and 5 September 2025.

Please note, this will not affect households that share bins (e.g. those living in flats).

What your service will look like:

Introducing their 3.2.1 collection service:

3.Your black rubbish bin will change from being collected every fortnight to once every 3 weeks. Don’t forget to recycle household batteries on top of your black bin in a clear bag.

2. Recycling collections will continue every fortnight. Including paper/cardboard, glass bottles/jars, tins/cans, aerosols, textiles, plastic bottles, and the recently introduced collection of plastic food pots, tubs and trays within the receptacle for plastic bottles and tins/cans. Collections of garden waste will continue to be collected every fortnight for subscribers. www.westberks.gov.uk/recycling

1.Food waste collection will continue every week.  www.westberks.gov.uk/foodwaste

Your collection day isn’t changing.

Their phone lines are very busy at this time, and they would prefer to prioritise helping vulnerable residents.

Please only call if you cannot find the information or support you need online.
