Experience Classical Music at the Berkshire Chamber Music Festival
5-8 June |Â www.berkshirechambermusicfestival.com
Everything that the BCMF does aims to bring the community together and to promote intergenerational enjoyment of music.
Our overriding priority is the people that we play for and their communities.
Each year we have a theme which makes both our workshops and our concerts engaging and educational and we work hard to programme music by a diverse spectrum of composers alongside more familiar names.
We employ diverse musicians, seeking especially to provide opportunities for young musicians starting out in the profession.
A series of workshops and concerts in Berkshire which aim to bring live classical music to those who might not otherwise have access to it.
The festival will begin with a stunning recital by Classic FM Rising Star, trumpeter Aaron Akugbo in Shaw House.
Later in the week we are proud to present the acclaimed harpist Oliver Wass whose innovative work to make chamber music accessible inspires audiences everywhere.
He will feature in a special Champagne and Candlelight performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade (arranged for septet) paired with the Ravel Introduction and Allegro.
This concert will also include two new commissions by our composers in residence, Franklin Onyeso and Felix Do, both in their second year at music college (RAM and RNCM respectively). In another Candlelight event, earlier in the week in Pangbourne, we shall perform that perennial favourite, Mozart’s beautiful Clarinet Quintet.
This programme will be repeated in our final concert, in Winkfield.
This will be especially designed to be accessible to families and to those for whom concert-going can be a challenging experience: it will be staged in ways that allow free movement and inquisitive enjoyment.
This year, too, to support our outreach work, we are hosting the award-winning MishMash Productions’ show ‘Toot!’ in Newbury library, for children ages 4-9 for which entry will be free, so please do bring children or grandchildren who might enjoy it!Â
We would so love to see you at one or more events.
You can find the full programme and our booking link on our website.
As always, please do spread the information far and wide.
We have an incredible line up this year and would love to have the venues absolutely packed.
If you work or volunteer for a charity, you are eligible for free tickets to the concerts under our Charity Scheme.
