The Pheasant, Highclere

With a beautiful English countryside setting, The Pheasant in Highclere is a charming 17th-century pub with rooms, that warmly welcomes dogs and families. Combining traditional hospitality with rustic, contemporary style, the Pheasant boasts huge wood burning fireplaces, eclectic decor and plenty of nooks and crannies for you to rest your feet after a hard day of exploring the countryside. There’s even a beautiful, sun-drenched garden and outside bar to enjoy in the summer.

They are passionate about hospitality, it really is their life and they believe strongly in supporting other local business’s where ever possible. You’ll find lots of local, seasonal produce on both their food and drink menus. They love a bit of a forage so don’t be shocked if you see them picking blackberries or wild garlic in and around the local area. Their aim is to ensure that the Pheasant is as sustainable and environmentally friendly as it possibly can be, by supporting causes like Carbon free dining, reducing  waste, removing mini plastic toiletries from the bedrooms and stocking products such as the Flawsome! Juices or Rubies in the rubble, who both save “ugly” fruit and veg from being discarded. Overall though, they just want to serve you some great food in a cosy, comfortable environment.

Billy & Ryan took over the Pheasant in July 2019, after working for the company who own the freehold for over 10 years. They have worked in hospitality their entire lives and are passionate about serving excellent, locally sourced fare in a homely, comfortable environment. They feel extremely lucky to have a wonderful team alongside them, many of whom have worked with them previously… so I guess that means they can’t be that bad! Their menu focuses on fresh, local produce and great British cuisine. Head chef and Landlord Ryan, is passionate about British produce, drawing inspiration for his menus from his dedication to sourcing high-quality local ingredients. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, and with the unique menu, guests can choose from a range of dining options, from small plates to mains and sharing dishes or feel free to just visit for a pint and a chat at the bar.
