Goring Repair Cafe and Exchange: Sustainability Through CommunitY
These will generally be every three months:
2026:Â 14th March; 6th June; 12th September; 5th December
The 6th June will also include The Big Green Week – more details closer to the date on their website.
Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
During the week, communities, schools, businesses, churches, mosques and more join together in a wave of support for action to protect the planet.
Taking action to swap together for good shows their support for a safer, greener, fairer future.
The first Great Big Green Week took place in September 2021, and was the largest event for climate and nature ever seen in the UK, with over 5,000 events taking place up and down the country.
Since then, Great Big Green Week has continued to grow. In 2025, an amazing 1.2 million people took part!
From Falmouth to Belfast, Jersey to Anglesey, Rugby to Thurso – they saw community action to tackle climate and nature in towns and cities up and down the country.
housands of events take place under the theme of ‘Let’s swap together for good’.
They’ve seen tours of local wind farms, nature restoration afternoons, mini festivals that celebrate the community and so much more.
You might consider events that swap skills or items, or perhaps a repair café.
Events are hosted by teachers, bus drivers, sport clubs, artists, community groups, places of worship, libraries, builders. People like you who care about climate change.
It’s easy to get involved. You can host events and activities in your area from 6th to 14th June 2026, and help make this the greatest, biggest, greenest week of the year.Â
Your event during Great Big Green Week will celebrate how your community is taking action to tackle climate change and protect green spaces, and encourage others to get involved too.
They’re busy preparing all the resources and support to help you get involved – sign up to their mailing list to be the first to know when these are available.
In the meantime, why not get inspired by previous community events, or see what else you can do in the lead up to Great Big Green Week 2026?
Goring Repair & Exchange Café is a free community service to help reduce waste and increase sustainability.
In February they launched the first Exchange event to complement the Repair event to reduce waste even further.Â
Repair events, which take place in the Main hall are the same format each time, with only the number of repairers present varying slightly depending on availability.

Exchange events will be in the Garden Room and feature different types of items each time (eg Clothes, Toys, Bikes & Buggies or Books etc).

Repairing and exchanging go well together as they both reduce the need for unnecessary consumption of replacement products, which helps to conserve natural, irreplaceable resources.

This facility is a project of the local Goring Gap Environmental Organisation, doing their bit in Goring to help save our Planet.
