    Salsa 2022

Have you been tapping along to the tunes on Strictly Come Dancing?

Is Cuban Fury your favourite feel-good film?

Are you looking for a great way to meet new people & keep fit?

If so, this Educafe fundraiser will be right up your street.

We welcome you to the new Waterside Centre:

    Waterside Youth & Community Centre
    31 Northbrook Street
    Newbury
    RG14 1DS

Doors will open at 6:30pm for you to come in & grab a drink and some food ( if you would like some)

At 7pm there will be an absolute beginners salsa class with Joe Sharp. Joe teaches with SalsaSquad based in Gloucester. He’s a firm favourite among beginners for his sense of humour & fantastic lead, and will get you doing the basic steps in no time. Salsa is an amalgamation of Cuban dances such as mambo, pachanga & rumba as well as American dances such as swing & tap. A really fun partner dance with plenty of room for flair.

There will be a quick break to grab another drink at 7:45.

At 8pm there will be a choice of two classes:

If you’re new to salsa, there will be a fun beginners Rueda class with Cedric Sureshkumar. Cedric stumbled across salsa at uni. Having attended workshops & congresses across the UK & beyond, he has learnt from some of the best & teaches at YoSalsa in Yeovil. Rueda is a form of cuban salsa danced in a circle. It’s a very social dance with partners swapping around the circle and different moves shouted out by the “caller”.

If you’re more of a seasoned dancer with at least a few months of experience under your belt, Eddie Hunt will be doing an improver/intermediate salsa class. Eddie was introduced to salsa in 2003 by a friend and has travelled far & wide for lessons from some amazing global teachers. He teaches in Bristol, Clevedon & Cardiff with followers impressed by his strong lead & complex moves.

Another drink break from 8:45, and then from 9pm until midnight there will be time for social dancing to tunes played by Cedric & Eddie who both DJ across the UK. No doubt they will keep you on the dance floor for hours.

More information on food options & additional fundraising opportunities to be released nearer the time!
