GSMC (December)
A Fun Packed Month of Live Music & time to vote in this year’s GSMC Music Awards

GSMC have a fantastic programme of live music coming up in December which includes plenty of Seasonal events to party too. Our Americana Night takes place at South Hill Park Arts Centre this week with a great line up featuring SandyMcLelland, The Lost Trades & Tomorrow Bird. Coming up at The Couch, Bracknell this month we have party band Gogo Juice, Just Genesis perform a tribute to the music of Genesis, we are delighted to be hosting the One FormationEP Launch, the GSMC Christmas Party features Atomic Rapture performing the music of Blondie and covers band The Filthy Llamas plus guests, we have a Christmas Showcase Special featuring some of your favourite acts, The TR5’sperform a Rock’n’Roll Christmas Party with support from The Apache Kites and Bracknell based band Cloudcat see out the year with support from Marc Woosnam.
Our Christmas at the Coach House season features a Tribute to the Music ofElvis Presley (Sold out), party band Evolution and jazz with Out of the Blue. Choro Bandido are one of the featured artists at Music at the Pottery, Farnham this month. The Lost Trades perform at The Phoenix, Exeter. Ajay Srivastav is at Saltburn Blues Club.
Our weekly showcase nights continue with the Acoustic Café at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst on Monday evenings and New Music Tuesday at The Couch, Bracknell and our very own Martyn Yeates hosts his Tunes at the Tap Open Mic Night. The GSMC Online Music Club takes place on evenings when we don’t have in person live shows, providing entertainment for those people that don’t feel comfortable attending events as yet and for those who live further afield.
Voting for this year’s GSMC Music Awards opens on Sunday 5th December with total of 11 categories celebrating some the great live and online shows we have presented over the last year and some of the great new releases and don’t forget to check out our weekly New Original Music Spotify Playlist bringing you all the best in new releases from around the globe.

Americana Night
Wednesday 1st December

Join us for a great night of Americana/ Folk with three great artists with Sandy McLelland, The Lost Trades & Tomorrow Bird. Throughout a long and respected music career, Scottish singer songwriter, Sandy McLelland has contributed to the artistic achievements of numerous artists and projects all over the world. Capable and comfortable across many, diverse, musical styles.

The Lost Trades are a trio of Wiltshire based singer songwriters (Jamie R Hawkins, Phil Cooper and Tamsin Quin) who, brought together by a mutual love of folk and roots music, have joined forces for a three part harmony, modern folk adventure.

Tomorrow Bird is a British acoustic duo comprising of solo artist Jen Bird and Simon Driscoll from the folk- rock band, Burnt Tomorrow. Drawing influences from bands such as The Civil Wars, their haunting melodies and heart-felt lyrics have transfixed audiences and marked them out as a band to watch!

Gogo Juice

Groovier than a grab bag of crinkle cut crisps, GOGO juice are a covers band guaranteed to fill the dance floor, rock the party and get your booty shaking. The London-based five-piece specialise in upbeat disco bangers, stomping soul classics, funky feel-good pop anthems and seductive slow jams. GOGO’s setlist provides an irresistible soundtrack to the last five decades of hits including glitterball gems from Chic, Chaka Kahn and Aretha, ‘80s superstar anthems of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, and choice contemporary cuts from the likes of Lizzo and Bruno Mars.


Choro Bandido

Choro Bandido is a Surrey based four piece band, initially brought together through friendship and their mutual love of Brazilian samba. Between them they have a wealth of musical experience in many styles and are now entertaining audiences with Choro, and other music from Latin America and beyond.

Coronation Kings – playing a set of self-penned original material take you for a genre-hopping leap across songwriting golden periods. You find yourself saying “ that sounds like.. … “ but you can’t pin it down. What it is, is a unique blend of sounds and influences played with feel. You might not spot some of the influences behind this band, such as REM, Tom Petty or Geoff Buckley, Bowie or Ashcroft, Del Amitri but they are all in there.

Rise of the Machine – back by popular demand, a 5 piece Rock band from South-East England. A force of musicians from various backgrounds bringing together Rock, Funk, Grunge, with a few covers in the mix.

Ajay Srivastav
Sunday 12th December
Saltburn Blues Club, Saltburn
Ajay Srivastav is a London based singer songwriter who plays a genre-bending mix of Indian Folk, Blues and Americana with lyrics that explore issues of identity, loss and spirituality. In an age of cultural division and societal conflict, his performances have been described as passionate, healing and uplifting.

Out of the Blue are an experienced six piece band performing classic, cool jazz who are inspired by swing jazz and the Great American Songbook together with Miles Davis, Coltrane and the greats such as Ella, Nina ,Frank , Duke Ellington, and Fats Waller.

Tribute to the music of Genesis

Just Genesis are a tribute to the hugely popular British prog-rock band, Genesis, concentrating on the period 1975 to 2007, during which Phil Collins was the lead singer, covering their many hits including Turn It On Again, Mama, Invisible Touch, Land of Confusion, Follow You Follow Me, and I Can’t Dance, along with many more.

Two bands that have headlined at the Couch in their own right this year return as an exciting double bill at this year’s GSMC Christmas Party. If that were not enough, they will be joined by a number of guests throughout the evening to ensure the evening goes with a swing. The Filthy Llamas are a five-piece covers band and will be bring their own take on punk, pop and rock classics with a raucous, fast-moving set of popular covers from the likes of The Keiser Chiefs, Green Day, Blink 182, Guns and Roses and almost certainly the Osmonds…. Atomic Rapture    are a six-piece Blondie tribute band who have been recreating the sound of one of America’s most eclectic and influential bands since 2014.  They will not surprisingly be playing the best of the Blondie hits. Add to that a few Christmas songs and a finale featuring all the musicians that have taken part in the evening this is one show not to be missed. 

One Formation

Inspired by Dub EP is the new up and coming release from Windsor based producer One Formation. The EP features 4 remixes from Matt’s 2016 debut album and 2 original tracks inspired by dub mixing legends such as King Tubby and Mad Professor to create an ambient electronic record with dub reggae undertones. The first single from the EP is a remix of the album track 10 by 3 and features an animated video by Peter Chownsmith due for release on the 20th of November. Artwork for the EP has been crafted by musician and artist Matthew G Willaims. Supporting on the night is the dark electronic live act Yallahs performed by James Vernon and ambient prog guitar looper Mothership performed by Dave Sailsbury.

The TR5’s

The TR5’s Rusty, Lucky, Richey, Chas and Ted. Maximum skiffle & roll from the dancehall days. Somewhere between The Cavern Club and Canvey Island. “The TR5’s” are unique in many ways. Part skiffle, part rock ‘n’ roll and part early r ‘n’ b their sound epitomises a bygone era of cool, with an epic sounding unit of acoustic guitar, electric guitar, double bass and drums. With set lists made up of out-of-the-ordinary (but not unknown) 50’s and 60’s tunes, deliberately chosen to stand out, the band are guaranteed to capture your attention and have you hitting the dancefloors. Their charismatic and energetic stage show is perfect for those great nights out that we all long for again.  Support on the night comes from The Apache Kites performing music from the 60’s & 70’s.
