Possibly the largest brass band organisation in the UK, Wantage Silver Band has just published its ten dates for this year’s popular Market Place Brass concert series.

Starting on Sunday 25th June with Wantage Big Band, the sound of live music will be heard outside Blackbird Bar and King Alfred’s Head (both this year’s event sponsors) in Wantage’s bustling town centre.

This concert series, proudly supported by Wantage Town Council, began a few years back and has grown ever since.

The community in Wantage and further afield now expect for there to be music on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer months in this fantastic location.

There is plenty of opportunity to watch one of nine bands perform. If you’ve not yet experienced the sound of a brass band then you’re guaranteed a good time if you stop by!

Each concert starts at 2pm and lasts for around an hour.

These concerts are designed to engage further with the community and give a completely access for all experience which sits very firmly at the top of Wantage Silver Band’s charitable objectives.

The band are delighted to have the support of King Alfred’s Head who will be offering a discount on ice cream and Blackbird Bar who will be giving discount on hot drinks. Both offers available on concert Sunday’s between 1 and 3pm.

This year’s series will conclude on Sunday 17th September with their championship outfit, Wantage Band performing with their new Musical Director Chris King.

Sam Wyne from the band who initiated the concert series adds “These concerts are a highlight for the band each year. Some of the largest audiences our bands attract are on these Sunday afternoons and it’s great to have such a huge following! We’re hoping that 2023 will be the best year yet!”
