The British Owl Project will be running an Owl Club for the Hampstead Norreys Community Shop Orchard where budding naturalists will get some hands-on ecology.
Here’s just some of the things they’ll be getting up to:
meet and learn about owls
habitat surveys
create owl-friendly habitat
install owl boxes
data gathering
monitor results.
Who?
Any children, no matter where they live, can join Owl Club provided they are age 8+.
And it’s free!
How do I find out more?
They are running an information session to share what they are up to for any adults interested in the project itself and/or keen to get their children signed up to Owl Club.
A Little Owl and a Tawny Owl will be in attendance.
Join them at the Community Shop on Monday 5 June 7 to 8:30pm and register for the talk at The Little Owl Project
It all began with a conversation at GreenFest in 2019.
Wouldn’t it be great, they thought, to have their own shop orchard, providing fresh fruit for the café and for sale.
And from there, the original idea (and the trees!) have grown.
Over 80 heritage trees, on private land that belongs to the Betts family (thank you!), cared for by a group of volunteers headed by Vanessa.
They think they have something special, and their customers tell us the same.
They’re the heart of the community, ever evolving.
Whether it’s creating and caring for their shop orchard, running artisan markets, creating beautiful displays, or winning awards - they work together to make their shop and café a great place to be.
And if you have ideas for how to make it even better, please let themknow.
