Hungerford Summer Festival by Caroline Lumley
HOORAY! IT’S FESTIVAL TIME AGAIN!
After the last couple of years of lock-downs, cancellations and sheltering from COVID, we are all looking forward to some good entertainment again, and this year the Hungerford Festival team have pulled out all the stops to bring you the brightest, boldest programme of fabulous events to appeal to all tastes, ages and interests.
For the 30th year, from 1st July until 10th July Hungerford Summer Festival will present non-stop experiences to delight and inspire.
In the beautiful marquee in the Croft Field and venues locally, you will be able to see great drama, hear fabulous music and get involved in workshops, lectures, tours, art, walks, sport, gardens, crafts, wine and food.
Get ready for Motown Gold, State of the Union and The Adam Winslet band (back again by popular demand!) and great drama with “Looking for Lansbury” a one-woman show about Angela Lansbury, “Where is Mrs Christie” about you know who, and the classic “Bouncers” by John Godber
The Festival is delighted to welcome Andrew Graham Dixon, the famous art historian and broadcaster, to talk to us about the Glorious Georgians and the excitement mounts for the Hungerford Summer Festival MAYOR’S PORTRAIT OF THE YEAR Competition!
The Festival is run by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers who give their time throughout the year to put together a programme that brings the joy of entertainment at accessible prices. The Festival started in 1991 and has run every year since, apart from 2020, when it was forced to cancel by the pandemic. Last year, despite concerns that it could happen again, the plucky team introduced the Festival Marquee in the Croft, giving everyone the chance to experience entertainment outside, in safety with plenty of fresh air and a great Festival atmosphere
And behind the Team of volunteers are the amazing local sponsors and Greenham Common Trust who, through the Good Exchange raise enough money to make sure that the costs of tickets can be kept low (sometimes free) and the Festival can keep running year after year. If you would like to become a sponsor or a volunteer please contact the Chairman.
To make sure you don’t miss out on this charming and exciting events programme, go to the website at hungerfordsummerfestival.co.uk to book your tickets or call in to Fare Wise Travel in Hungerford High Street.
