For Honesty, bread is part of the essence of life.
The essence of life is a philosophical outlook that requires us all to live life with purpose, to make the most of every day and to live each day as though it is our last.
So to not care about the food we eat each day goes against this ideal, this philosophy.
Bread is a fundamental part of our diet.
It always has been.
The story of human civilisation can be traced through bread.
It is too important an article of food to be an afterthought as we proceed up and down the aisles of a supermarket, a purchase made without thought or consciousness.
The Honesty Bakery is situated in Turnpike, Newbury. They bake, make and create there with their team of bakers, cake makers and chefs.
Their breads, cakes and pastries are all made using organic, stoneground flour.
Their breads and pastries are folded and cut by hand.
They use no artificial additives, flavourings or preservatives.
They have an ever evolving cake and bread range, taking into account what tastes best as well as the seasons and the prevailing trends.
The team is imaginative and creative and wants to bring fresh and exciting products to theircustomers, as well as produce the favourites that everyone wants to see in their shops.
Since they opened back in 2015 the Honesty chocolate brownie is still the best selling cake and the Honesty sourdough the best selling loaf of bread.
They also bake using heritage grains, such as khorasan, emmer, einkorn (known as man’s first wheat) and spelt.
These grains contain less gluten and are more nutrient dense so have a better effect on the gut when eaten.
Their chefs produce all the stews, soups, salads and sandwiches that they sell in their shops in the kitchen in Turnpike.
Everything is made from scratch and they use no artificial flavourings or preservatives.
What you see is what you get and you will taste the difference.
They supply wholesale breads and cakes so please enquire if you would like any samples.
They also take orders for corporate lunches, again please enquire if you are interested.
