Wildlife, Wild Garlic & Bluebells! | West Berkshire Villagers
As launched on Social Media this morning, we wanted to share a new route with you that is running this Bank Holiday Monday (and may continue past that if there’s interest).
Wildlife, Wild Garlic & Bluebells! New
If you would love to combine a walk this coming weekend that combines learning about wildlife and birds, also seeing some bluebells in a mini bluebell forest, and seeing some wild garlic growing (bring a bag for a few leaves – makes an incredible pesto) – then this is the route for you!
A gentle 4 miles, you should allow circa 2.5 hours to walk this woodland route in Upper Basildon – and we have had an array of sightings on our recent walks; Treecreepers, Goldcrests, Kestrels, Buzzards, Red Kites, Roe Deer, Muntjac, ChiffChaff, Great Spotted Woodpeckers and others.
There’s a section with some delightful deer that should be on show as they are keep in a specific location by a keeper, and they are stunning!
We are running this walk starting from this Bank Holiday Monday. We have a 7am start which is for those most interested in seeing the most wildlife as the morning is the most active. We have a 10am start for those who like wildlife (and there will still be some activity!) but want to catch the Bluebell Woods in the most light.
Booking link below in case of interest!
(If you wanted to book this as a private walk to include children, this is possible).
Private Woodland Trail – no crowds!
Also available on Bank Holiday Monday is a 2.30pm Private Woodland Trail Walk, in case you want something nice to do with friends or family after lunch! Best value is to gather your friends and family, and book as a private walk. Can take up to 6 individuals (different households) or two households max of 10.
(This can also be accessible for children if booked as a private walk – the route can be amended slightly depending on ages and distance they can manage).
All other walks can be found here.
