Make a fabric picture inspired by herbaceous borders and wild meadows. The day will start with looking at flower inspiration from photos. Freezer paper stencils will be made and leaf shapes stencilled onto fabric. Flowers will be cut from bonded fabric and ironed them down as raw edge appliqué. The composition can then be finished with hand or machine sewing as preferred. We will make a design approximately 40cm square.
Please bring with you - A mixture of fabrics to suit your composition: ideal cotton fabrics would be textured, mottled, batiks, or randomly dyed, or small patterns. Sewing kit, fabric scissors, some embroidery threads for finishing details. Pencil, rubber, and paper scissors. A craft knife, small cutting mat, sponges/old plate (for fabric paints), apron, leaf stamps and thermofax screens of leaf designs if you have them. Sewing machine. Free motion quilting foot ideally. (It is possible that the machining will not get done on the workshop day – just the composition.)
Includes - Materials. Tea, coffee and biscuits.
Terms - Fee is payable on booking. If, having booked, you cancel your booking, we are unable to offer a refund. However, you may nominate someone else to attend the workshop or class in your place by notifying us using the contact page on the Micklems Farm website.
