ONSITE The Square Willow Trug

This two-day, onsite workshop is designed for complete beginners and those wishing to improve their knowledge.
You will be making a shallow rectangular basket with handle, this can make an ideal trug for flowers or vegetables or a handy work basket. Using a combination of willow with or without bark will make a basket to a size that suits your requirements (contact tutor beforehand if you have a particular requirement), the one in the picture is 27cm x 57 cm by 9cm deep. Emphasis will be on good technique and material choice to ensure a functional and attractive basket that could last a lifetime.
- Making a flat rectangular base
- Doing the 'Upset' and discussing alternative methods, English, German, French or a solid base
- A choice of rand – English or French or a slew
- Strong border with blunt or sharp corners.
- Handles can have a single central wrapped bow, or small cranked handles
Materials are not included in the workshop fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £20 payable to the tutor during the workshop. Your tutor may not have the facilities to take card payments for materials in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book if your course involves buying materials from the tutor.Students - please bring with you:
All tools are provided, however if you have your own favorite secateurs please bring them.We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
