Fun with Weaving Sticks
Tutor: Caroline Marriott
On this workshop you will learn to warp up these simple looms and quickly weave some surprisingly beautiful pieces.
We will shape, hatch and make patterns. You may make a bag, a mat, a string of flowers or even a character to hang on the wall!
This is a fun and easy form of weaving so bring a variety of wool and used fabrics to cut into strips and enjoy a creative day.
What to bring: Double knit cotton or wool with a high viscose content for the warp. Warp threads need to be strong. Wool of any type and thickness to weave with. Anything you think you can weave with. Fabrics that can be cut into strips. Old clothing, scarves any fabric that has been washed and ironed a lot. Sewing kit.
Included on the day:
- Any other materials not specified for the students to bring
- Expert tuition
- 1 to 1 guidance
- Detailed demonstrations
- A selection of tea, freshly brewed coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes
And of course you take your wonderful creations from the day. If you share any photographs of your day here and/or your finished work, we’d love to see them so please tag us @micklemsfarmcreativeworkshops or use the hashtag #micklemsfarmcreativeworkshops.
