    Attendance Mode

Following the government’s update today on social gatherings, we know many of you will have questions about what this will mean for your visit to the Corn Exchange, Learning Centre or The Base.

As an arts venue we are permitted to host our films, live performances, workshops, classes and exhibitions as planned. The team here, and all of the practitioners and performers that we work with, have meticulously planned these to ensure we are Covid-secure. We are complying with all industry and government guidelines and are proud to have the Visit England We’re Good to Go certificate displayed.

    Book with confidence:
We want you to feel confident about booking in advance for a film, screening, performance, exhibition, course or workshop. It is very important that people displaying symptoms of Covid-19 do not come to events so, if you are unwell with coronavirus symptoms or having to self-isolate, please phone the Box Office and we will arrange for your tickets to be transferred, credited to your account or refunded.

    Booking tickets:
Tickets must be booked in advance and we are asking customers to select an e-ticket if possible. This means that your ticket can be scanned on arrival reducing the need for contact with our staff when they check tickets. If you are unable to book an e-ticket, please speak to our Box Office team.

You do not need to show a ticket for events in the Learning Centre or at The Base as the team there will have a record of all those who have booked.

You must only book tickets for people in your household or support bubble. You will be asked to confirm this when you make your booking. If you wish to come with someone who is not in your household or support bubble, they will need to book tickets in a separate transaction.

In accordance with Government regulations sectors including leisure, entertainment and hospitality and therefore the Corn Exchange, Newbury are now legally obliged to have a system in place to request and record contact details of their customers, visitors and staff to help break the chains of transmission of coronavirus. Therefore your booking details will now be used for Test and Trace purposes.

    Social distancing:
We have limited the number of people admitted to each event and seats will be left free between different household groups to ensure appropriate social distancing.

For films and performances up to and including Sunday 25 October, we have implemented a 'social bubble' system of booking online. As in the example picture below, you will see that there are seats available in bubbles of different group sizes and you will need to select the one that is appropriate for your booking. Seats that are available are shown in red and those that have already been booked, or that have been left free for social distancing, are shown in grey.

You must select a bubble which fits with your group size otherwise the system will not proceed with the booking. For example, if you try to book two seats in a bubble which is designed for four, the booking will not go through and you will need to select a bubble of two seats. If you require a bubble size which is not available, please contact the Box Office and they will assist with your booking.

The system will continue to be used in the cinema after 25 October.

    Battle of the Proms

West Berkshire Villagers | Events | What’s On | Things to Do

We're delighted to confirm that the Battle Proms Concerts are going ahead! Join us for a fabulous summer celebration with music, fireworks, Spitfire, cannons and cavalry.More tickets have been released for this weekend's Battle Proms at Highclere Castle. Treat yourself to a fresh picnic or bottle of prosecco, chilled for collection on arrival at the concert. And pre-order your furniture or opt for a table in the Concert Pavilion for the ultimate hassle-free Battle Proms experience!

The popular event, which takes place this Saturday (July 31), sold out in April, with the organisers capping audience numbers in line with Step 3 regulations. Anyone who missed out will be pleased to hear that a limited number of additional tickets have now been released, but they should book soon to avoid disappointment as audience capacity is still significantly reduced.

Each year around 10,000 concert-goers gather in the stunning grounds in front of Highclere Castle for an exceptional evening of sublime classical music. The programme includes carefully choreographed and thrilling Spitfire and cavalry displays, dramatic cannon fire and a stunning firework finale.

Approaching its 20th year at Highclere, the series itself is celebrating 20 years since the first Battle Proms was staged, and there’s a reason it continues to be a firmly established favourite in the local calendar. The organisers are now encouraging people to book early and ensure they don’t miss out on the best possible ticket prices for this fabulous summer event. So pack up the hampers and champers and gather the troops for this ‘Party in the Park’ with a difference!

The full 2 hour orchestral concert from the New English Concert Orchestra, led by Douglas Coombes MBE and compered by much-loved BBC presenter Pam Rhodes, will include a host of well-known classical pieces and conclude with a ‘last night of the proms’ sing-along with favourites such as Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory and more.
The musical programme will be augmented by a toe-tapping warm-up act, thrilling Napoleonic cavalry displays, a meticulously choreographed aerial display from a WWII Spitfire, live firing cannons and, of course, spectacular fireworks. The Battle Proms is still believed to be the only opportunity in the world to see their signature piece - Beethoven’s Battle Symphony - performed as he composed it: with 193 live Napoleonic cannon providing a thunderous percussion!
