Visit Sally Courage, Teresa Munn & Moya Tosh, local ceramic artists, united by a love of the natural world and the organic feel of clay.

Sally works with coils of clay to create satisfying forms which evolve as the work grows.
Teresa works with text in ceramics, and explores feelings associated with the landscapes of our lives in clay-scripted wall plaques and hand-held textured forms.
Moya works in porcelain. Her sculptural pieces reflect the rugged and imperfect elements of the natural world, inspired, in particular, by the gnarled and broken texture of Silver Birch bark.

Red Steps is a working studio, and one of the three will always be working there and able to discuss their latest work. Large pieces & small gift items available – or just come and enjoy chatting & looking

Into Film Festival Yesterday @ the Corn Exchange Newbury 2019

Jack is a struggling musician whose dreams of pop stardom are slowing disappearing despite the support coming from his childhood best friend and manager, Ellie. After riding his bike home from a gig one night, a power outage occurs across the world and he is struck by a car. Upon waking up in hospital, he soon discovers that the world has forgotten one of the most famous and influential bands of all-time, The Beatles, and he sets about recreating their songs, soon becoming a music sensation across the world. However, he soon realises that fame and fortune might mean losing Ellie, the one person who always believed in his talent. Yesterday is a hugely entertaining fantasy about the joy that music brings to people, respecting intellectual property and the cost of super-stardom.

You will learn which types of fusing glass and embellishments are compatible and then create two of your own designs. These will incorporate hanging loops in order for you to display them when they are finished. You will be encouraged to try some practical experiments and will benefit from the technical information and supervision provided by your tutor.
NOTE: Due to the firing and cooling down processes involved with all glassmaking it is not possible for participants to take work home on the day it is made. Your pieces will be fired, in a kiln, and posted out to you after the workshop at no extra cost.
What do you need to bring?

    Après Vous (After You) (2005)
    A film by Pierre Salvadori.
By the director of ‘Beautiful Lies’, which we showed in January 2019, this ‘surprising, dazzling comedy….sparkles like a bottle of fine wine’. Antoine, a restaurant head waiter, takes a short cut through a park one evening and rescues Louis, a despondent, lovelorn stranger, from a suicide attempt.
It isn’t long before Antoine decides to fix everything that is wrong in Louis’ life, including intercepting his suicide note, finding him a job at his restaurant and attempting to mend the rift between Louis and his former girlfriend, Blanche. But there is an unexpected twist of fate……..
‘Most satisfying! Graceful, witty and irresistible!’ – Los Angeles Times.
‘An unusual French treat. Sly, funnier than hell, and deliciously unexpected.’ – CBS Radio

The film stars acting legend Daniel Auteuil, with José Garcia and Sandrine Kiberlain.

Duration 106 minutes, in French with English subtitles.

    Lantern Making  Workshops

    FREE (NO BOOKING REQUIRED)

Come and create your very own lantern for the Lantern Procession.

Work with professional Lantern-makers to create either a traditional pyramid Lantern out of willow and paper, or a design of your choice ready to carry in our Festival of Light procession!

We had around 250 people join us for these workshops last year, and we’d love to see more! These workshops are a great chance to get really involved in one of our biggest annual events, so come along and join in with the creative fun. You’ll also receive an invitation to the Parade and instructions on how to further decorate your Lantern at home if you would like.

Standard pyramid lanterns take between 1 and 2 hours to make, and we ask that you are able to take your Lantern away with you at the end of the workshop as we are unable to store them. If you are looking to make a more ambitious design, you will need to allow plenty of time to complete this.

    Duration: 10am – 4pm

Workshop dates: Sat 30 Nov, Sun 1 Dec, Sat 7 Dec & Sun 8 Dec

Children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult, and it is recommended that you dress for mess.
