Easter Fest – a FREE Event for Newbury

A three-day EasterFest will be coming to Newbury as part of an enhanced offering for the town in the Easter holidays.

Arriving on Friday 15th April, the Alice in Wonderland-themed event has the classic children’s characters, Alice, Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts at it’s centre.  Also there will be musical performances and meet and greets. They’ll be joined by the Easter Bunny hosting a special story time of magical tales, which children can take advantage of in between a town centre Easter egg hunt, hidden amongst giant objects such as a life-size chess set, chair and much more, scattered around Wonderland. Additionally, street entertainers will roam the streets while live music will light up a stage near a street food court, alongside a wide variety of exciting and vibrant market stalls.

The EasterFest event will be located along the main high street in Northbrook Street and will continue along Bartholomew Street . The event will take place between 10am and 8pm on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th April, with an earlier finish time of 5pm on the final day of the event, Sunday 17th April.

Look out for the full entertainment programme in the coming weeks.

In addition to this Mad Hatter-inspired event, BID is also collaborating with local charity, Swings and Smiles, to deliver a two-week Easter Egg Hunt over the holidays from Saturday 9th –Sunday 24th April. There will be prizes to be won, with all proceeds from the hunt going to charity.

Brought to you by Visit Newbury and local charity, Swings & Smiles, this town centre Easter Egg Hunt takes place across the whole Easter holidays, to keep the little cherubs entertained!

Easter Craft Workshops and a two-week Easter Egg Hunt join a three-day EasterFest in Newbury town centre this April

Newbury Business Improvement District (BID) and local charity Swings & Smiles have joined forces to ensure the Easter Bunny hops its way into Newbury this Easter.

The partnership will deliver Easter Craft Workshops and a cracking two-week Easter Egg Hunt, with festivitiestaking place from Saturday 9th April to Sunday 24th April.

Eight eggs, beautifully decorated and kindly donated by local pottery painting coffee house, The Ugly Duckling, will be hidden in the windows of eight independently owned businesses on Newbury’s quirky Bartholomew Street. Participants must find the eggs and complete a trail sheet as they go, colouring in eggs on the sheet to match those displayed in the windows.

Trail sheets are available to download online for a £2 donation and all proceeds go to the co-organisers of the event, Thatcham-based charity Swings & Smiles. You can purchase your trail sheet and find out more information about the event and the charity here: visitnewbury.org.uk/events/newbury-easter-egg-hunt/
