This is the perfect opportunity for Downton Abbey fans to enjoy watching the beloved Crawley family and their intrepid staff prepare for the most important moment of their lives, ahead of the King and Queen of England’s arrival, whilst being within the real-life film set itself! When you arrive at Highclere Castle, you will first set eyes on the twinkling Christmas trees leading you up the main driveway to the front door of the Castle, before you step into the warmth of the House and are welcomed into the Saloon for a special Guided Tour of the Castle State Rooms and Gallery Bedrooms.

Step into the spirit of Christmas at the Real “Downton Abbey” and join us for Christmas Guided Tours and Afternoon Tea at Highclere Castle. We very much hope you enjoyed the TV programme “Christmas at Highclere” in December 2020. As we welcome guests back this year, we have a very different Christmas theme and we are so looking forward to sharing it with you!

The starting place as ever, however, is the Highclere Christmas tree in the Saloon and the festive garlands that cascade down the staircases, the wintery white and shimmering silver arrangements in the Drawing Room and the traditional styling of the Library and the State Dining Room.
Tour the bedrooms upstairs and explore the Egyptian Exhibition in the cellars which tells the story of the world-famous discovery in 1922 of the tomb of Tutankhamun by the 5th Earl of Carnarvon and Howard Carter.
Following your Tour, make your way outside to the Christmas Marquee on the Castle Lawns for a delicious seated traditional Afternoon Tea.

he Earl and Countess of Carnarvon are delighted to welcome you to their home, the Real Downton Abbey, for a festive evening to celebrate A Victorian Christmas.
As you are welcomed into the Castle, you will step in to the opulent Library to enjoy a glass of Champagne before you enter the Saloon for the performance by Gerald Dickens, Great-Great Grandson of Charles Dickens. During the interval, there will be an opportunity to explore The Music Room, The Drawing Room, The Dining Room and The Smoking Room.

Drive through the park as you approach the floodlit Castle before you make your way past the Christmas trees lighting the driveway.
• Enjoy a glass of Champagne with the Choir leading the carols in the Saloon.
• Tour the decorated Castle State Rooms with one of our knowledgeable guides, climb the garlanded Staircases, explore the Bedrooms, and discover our Egyptian Exhibition in the cellars.
• Enjoy the magic of the Christmas decorations from the trees to the stair garlands, the floral displays and, of course, the central tree 24ft high in the Castle.
Your ticket includes a signed 'Christmas at Highclere' book (RRP £30) and there will also be an opportunity to shop in our Gift Shop as you stock up for last minute Christmas presents.
Your ticket also includes a delicious light supper prepared by Highclere’s chefs, served with a glass of Champagne by our butlering team in the Christmas Marquee or Coach House.
