Hannah Scott/The People Versushttps://westberksvillagers.com/event/hannah-scott-the-people-versus/
The People Versus are a narrative led harmony driven act, calling their sound ‘Museum-Pop’ it borrows from a plethora of genres and traditions. Comprising five members, its formation arose almost spontaneously out of a combination of previous collaborations, the band is effectively made up of four ex-lead singers whose combined voices and instrumental lines swoop, circle, and support the beguiling voice and personality of Alice. Alice’s asexuality provides her lyricism with a rare perspective from which to build poetry out of life. Each song is taut with feeling and longing, as Alice channels dreams, thought, and love through a kaleidoscopic medium of Greek myth and tales from Shakespeare.
One of the ACE Space team saw The People Versus doing a support slot at Arlington where they were the highlight of the evening. Anyone who is a fan of The Mouletts should not miss this band.
rom Suffolk via Italy, Hannah Scott performs contemporary folk music and is picking up a loyal following thanks to her distinctive voice, strong melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. She has found her musical home with creative partner Stefano Della Casa and their music has been heard on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music, including a live session on Dermot O’Leary’s show, and praise has arrived from publications such as The Guardian and Clash Magazine. Hannah’s arresting live performances have earned her support slots for artists including Madeleine Peyroux, 10cc and Seth Lakeman and she has twice travelled to New York festival “Mondo NYC”, receiving PRS Foundation funding and running a successful crowdfunding campaign to fund the trips.
When Hannah and Stefano appeared at ACE Space supporting Holy Moly and the Crackers we had so many positive comments that we just had to get them back for a longer set.
