There are two new single releases from The Salts with an A Capella version of Drunken Sailor and Paul Alexander Low releases Shine from his forthcoming new album. Our Online Music Club continues with live music every evening and our weekly New Music Playlist features 20 tracks from 20 different artists.

Fiery Bird Showcase Sessions Online

Following a great start to our Fiery Bird Live Music Venue Showcase Sessions Online last week we are back on Wednesday 21st April starting at 7.30pm with Carola Baer who is known for combining layers of vocals, piano and keys to create a lush and unique ambient progressive sound. Vocalist & writer with darkly poetic post punk band Phoenix Chroi (2010- 2019) who released two albums, Elaine McGinty & Joe Buckley perform poetry and songs. This series of events which are supported by Arts Council England.

‘Exciting news! We have a new single coming out this coming Friday, April 23rd! We haven’t been able to get together in the same room for a long while to record but we wanted to do something special so we recorded our individual parts remotely for a brand new A Cappella version of the classic Drunken Sailor shanty that was originally on our ‘Brave’ album! The Songs of Leonard Cohen
South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell

Keith James will performing the Songs of Leonard Cohen at the Wilde Theatre, South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell on Thursday 17th June at 7.45pm, tickets on sale now. Included in the concert are Cohen’s well-known songs: Famous Blue Raincoat, Sisters of Mercy, Suzanne, and Hallelujah alongside his rarer and profound writing such as Who by Fire, Joan of Arc and Secret Life. Also included are songs from his posthumous album Thanks for the Dance such as What happens to the Heart and Keith’s dramatic performances based on the work of Federico Garcia Lorca – Cohen’s greatest influence. Keith has also transcribed into song one of Leonard’s poems from his collection ‘Book of longing’ written whilst on retreat during the 1990s.

Her new album ‘Cabin Fever’ is out now.

This week’s Sofa Sessions from Tomorrow Bird is a cover of Tubthumping featuring Dave Mann. Tomorrow Bird is a British acoustic duo comprising of solo artist Jen Bird and Simon Driscoll from the folk- rock band, Burnt Tomorrow. Drawing influences from bands such as The Civil Wars, their haunting melodies and heart-felt lyrics have transfixed audiences and marked them out as a band to watch!

“Shine”
 
The new single ‘Shine’ by Paul Alexander Low which is released on Friday (23rd April) in aid of Mind the mental health charity. The track features well-known session musicians Jeremy Stacey (Noel Gallagher, Robbie Williams & Ryan Adams) and Simon Johnson (Tom Jones, James Morrison, Lana Del Ray). After seeing support from previous singles across radio and press outlets including the likes of BBC Radio Tees, Amazing Radio and Folking, Paul Alexander Low is ready to release ‘Shine’ in aid of the mental health charity MIND.
 

 

The Festival of Food and Music
South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell

The Festival of Food and Music is South Hill Park’s opportunity to showcase a wealth of music as well as a range of food and drink suppliers in the beautiful grounds of South Hill Park. From tasty Thai and real ale, to BBQ food, craft stalls and a children’s play area – there’s something for everyone. Music performances take place throughout the weekend whilst visitors enjoy delicious food and drink. A fantastic and unmissable event for all ages – no need to book tickets in advance; just turn up on the day and bring the sunshine! Entry is free, but please note that stall holders will charge for food, drinks or activities.
